On the most tennis-like day of the year so far, eight Newton St Cyres players competed at an American Tournament styled event held at Victoria Park Tennis Club in Exeter. The competition was organized by Frankie Peroni and Sue Stott on behalf of the East Devon League. Alice Dowle, Flora Niven, Francesca Ward, Curtis Garnsworthy, Jack Gordon, Reuben Taylor, Tobias Rimbon-Whittaker and Tom Baber were our representatives. There were three awards given out and we picked up two of them. Frankie Ward won a very close girls 15 and under section and Reuben Taylor won an equally tight boys 12 and under. It was a fantastic event held in a friendly atmosphere an ideal first foray into doubles for our juniors who are mostly inexperienced at doubles play.
