Our annual Christmas fancy dress tournament took place on Tuesday, 28th December and had it all: gales, horizontal rain, some awesome fancy dress efforts and even a singsong (!) to Chris Bury’s rewrite of the 12 Days of Christmas or as we now know it the 12 Days of Covid!
We had 10 enthusiastic tennis players turn up on a day that wasn’t exactly made for tennis, but they were all keen to play and in the end the stormy conditions made it all the more fun (I think). Some people made a super effort with their fancy dress; Anita and Helen were charming as dancing ladies, Elaine was a badass Covid fairy and Harry transformed himself into a fetching milkmaid with 5 gold rings on his fingers. But the star of the show was, yet again, Chris B. Not only did he rewrite the song and had us all sing it but his Covid fancy dress was something else 😀 He won the Best Fancy Dress vote overwhelmingly and deservedly walked away with a £30 voucher for the Beer Engine.
The winners of the American tournament were jointly Gerry and Harry for the men and Selena for the ladies.

Sounds great, I’m in
