NSC TENNIS CLUB – COVID-19-RELATED RULES FROM 29 MARCH 2021
(for everyone visiting the club)
These rules draw on, but do not completely replicate, the LTA’s guidelines (see the LTA’s website for these). If these or other public guidance/law changes we may need to change our own rules at very short notice. We anticipate there being additional guidance from the LTA before 29 March
SINGLES AND DOUBLES PLAY ARE PERMITTED!
Our main rules are:
(1) The ‘rule of 6’ applies to all tennis played as ‘informal social play’. This is per court, but we ask for a maximum of 4 people on each of our courts, each as a separate group.
(2) Designated ‘organised tennis activities’ , such as club sessions and coaching, are allowed to exceed this rule. Our locally-set maximum is of 16 people, whether players or visitors, to be allowed at the club or its environs at any one time. These are as follows:
Monday morning women’s tennis: organised group activity (organised by Val Millington)
Tuesday afternoon: club session (co-ordinated by David Jolly)
Wednesday afternoon: organised group activity (organised by Simon Grundy)
Thursday morning men’s tennis: organised group activity (organised by Aubrey Cox & Neville Lane)
Thursday evening: club session ( (co-ordinated by Harry Willats)
Friday afternoon: club session (co-ordinated by David Jolly)
Sunday afternoon: club session (co-ordinated by Frederiek Maddock)
(3) You may access the clubhouse, but only one person at a time, and only for in-and-out transactions (access to water, using the toilet). Do not use the clubhouse as a rain shelter or for making drinks.
(4) Please do not treat your tennis as a tennis+social occasion.
And:
– Observe 2-metre social distancing – both on and off the courts
– Minimise touching of common surfaces (including locks, handles etc)
– Hand-sanitise before and after play, and after touching common surfaces. Use either the club-provided hand-sanitiser or your own. You may wish to bring a hand-towel too
– There is no practical way of avoiding touching shared balls (except with a glove)…… So don’t touch your face, and hand-sanitise before & after play. Club balls will be provided for most ‘organised tennis activities’; otherwise please bring your own
– If you open the clubhouse, leave the main door open while you are at the courts (but remember to lock it when you leave). Use the anti-bac handwash provided, shaking your hands dry or using your own hand-towel
– Supervise your children’s compliance with the above. Ditto guests
– Some additional advice may be given for junior coaching.
Finally, please don’t come to the club:
(1) if you or any of your household have any of the key symptoms of Covid-19 (if you test positive, and have been at the club within the previous 14 days, tell the Membership Secretary asap)
(2) if you should be self-isolating for other reasons.
