American Tournament, Sunday September 14th.
Before a ball was served it was obvious that the weather was going to be kind to us. Though a little overcast, the conditions were ideal. There were sixteen players which made the logistics relatively simple and made for many opportunities for conversations in between playing – I was reminded yet again of what a very pleasant club we belong to. And what wonderful cake – perhaps a Newton St Cyres Bake Off could be organised!
Many of the games were closely fought and it was particularly pleasing to see junior players taking part, playing very good tennis, one of whom won the mens competition – congratulations to Connor.
The winners were separated by a few points – Frederiek won the ladies’ competition, followed by Jacky and Viv. Connor won the men’s competition followed by Guy.
