An American Tournament took place at the club on Sunday 17 September.
More of a ‘Newton Tournament’ really, in that it was organised a little differently, as we had difficulties recruiting the requisite number of men. So there were two mixed gender groups: the Reds and the Blues. All went well and the results were very close: Harry won in the Red group, 2 points ahead of Neville; Anne won in the Blue group, just 1 point ahead of Anita, David and Linda. Subsequent calculations still left David and Linda in a dead heat, so they accepted the runners-up prize of a can of balls, to use at club sessions.
An enjoyable morning’s tennis – enhanced by some delicious cakes.
