Courts now re-opened for restricted play

Play at the club
With the slight easing of government restrictions, we’re glad to be in a position to re-open the courts (BUT NOT THE CLUBHOUSE) from Thursday 14th May, in accordance with the LTA operational guidelines, which are as follows:

  • Play only singles, unless with members of your household.
  • Maintain physical distance at all times.
  • Bring your own water as the clubhouse will be closed. (We are changing the door combination for the time being, so please do not try to force your way in.)
  • Bring your own balls, clearly marked as yours; handle only those.
  • Minimise touching of commonly-touched surfaces & objects – most obviously the court padlock and gate mechanism, and net-adjuster.
  • Sanitise your hands before playing, and the surfaces you have touched before leaving. Please bring your own sanitiser and/or wipes.
  • MAKE YOUR OWN RISK ASSESSMENT ABOUT PLAYING.

There will be a box on court, containing the First Aid kit and the diary, to be used, as normal, to book the courts – maximum booking period remains at 1.5 hours. (But we’ll be looking into switching to an on-line booking system.)
We’ll keep the use of the courts under review in case the system proves to be unworkable.

Sessions are being organised, By David and Simon, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays to facilitate singles play.

This is not tennis as we know and love it, but it will have to do for the moment. We trust that members will co-operate with these playing conditions and restrictions.
Rest assured, we will relax things as soon as we’re able.
